Digital certificates from architect, engineer, CA a must: What new UP RERA rule means for realtors

The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has introduced a new digital certification requirement for real estate developers in Uttar Pradesh. Under the new rule, promoters will need to submit digitally signed certificates from an architect, engineer and chartered accountant (CA) while filing their Quarterly Progress Reports (QPRs). The requirement will apply from the July-September quarter of 2026.

The move is aimed at improving transparency, accountability and accuracy in real estate project reporting. The certificates will provide professional verification of important project-related information submitted to the regulator.

For homebuyers, the new UP RERA rule could make project progress information more reliable and easier to evaluate. Developers, meanwhile, will need to ensure that their project documentation and reporting systems comply with the updated requirements.

The latest UP RERA decision is particularly important for property buyers in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and other parts of Uttar Pradesh, where buyers frequently track construction progress through RERA filings.
